I know this is a bit of an older post but I've just used the UIDocument.ActiveView property to switch views but it did not close the other view as you mentioned, it's still open, just not active.

Reasons:
  • Low length (0.5):
  • No code block (0.5):
  • Single line (0.5):
  • Low reputation (0.5):
