This problem is from a while ago, but it might help someone else having the same issue... Working In Visual Studio Codespace for a class. In your README.md file, if you start your code indented from the start(beginning, getgo, etc.) and not aligned with the far left typical starting point, it may correct your problem...that fixed the problem for me, as my code now appears correctly in the preview README.md file. I hope that helps.
