STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

Introduction

Greetings, I Lakshay Kundu glad to introduce myself, a resident of Haryana. I was born on 12 December 2005. I am truly appreciative of the opportunity to introduce myself and elucidate my motivation for pursuing Bachelors of Tourism Hospitality and Event Management at the University of Newcastle, commencing in February, 2025. I live in a joint family with my father, my elder brother, my uncle and aunt and my grandparents. While I am excited for the opportunity to study abroad in Australia. The values of community and relationships that my family has instilled in me since childhood are integral to who I am. I intend to return to India after completing my studies, equipped with new knowledge and skills that will allow me to meaningfully contribute to my community back home

Academic Background

I completed my 10* standard with 89.6% marks in 2022 from KCM World School in Palwal, affiliated with CBSE. After completing my 10** standard I gained interest in Political Science and choose to pursue Arts stream. As a result I successfully completed my 12* standard with 90.8% marks in 2024 from SPS International School in Palwal, affiliated with CBSE. Now I want to pursue my career in the field of management so, I have decided to do Bachelors of Tourism Hospitality and Event Management from the University of Newcastle, Australia. I will be able to help my father in his business after completing my course.

Family Background

My family includes of my father, my elder brother, my uncle and aunt and my grandparents. My father is a businessman and my elder brother manages our play school with the help of my grandfather. My fathers annual income is more than 15000 AUD and my uncles annual income is more than 33000 AUD. My father and my uncle are funding my academic pursuits and living costs through savings accounts and an education loan from ICICI Bank.

Why Australia

To pursue my higher education, I did some research about universities in abroad like UK, Canada, Germany and Australia. Universities in UK and Germany are renowned for Technical and IT courses. While Australia is renowned for its Tourism and Hospitality industry. Also the courses in UK and Germany are for a time period of 1 year or 2 year whereas in Australia it is for 3 years which is more recognized in India. And compared to Canadian universities, the Australian universities have a better world wide ranking than the rest. Moreover according to OS world ranking Australian education system ranks 3' in the world. While comparing Australia is more affordable for higher education than other countries. Australia is also one of the safest countries in the world. Other reasons to choose Australia would be the similar weather conditions to India which will be suitable as an international student. Also tourism industry of Australia is considered one of the best in the world. Also Australian degree is more recognized in India than any other international degree. Therefore, I believe that Australia is perfect for me to pursue my higher education in Tourism, Hospitality and Event Management.
