Got back from 8hours driving truck today and sat down to start coding VSCODE says "You can't use this version of the application, you have macOS 10.15.7. The application requires 11.0 or later"

2 Questions

  1. What ***kw*t at Microsoft thinks it's a good idea to auto upgrade someones dev environments to a version that is incompatible with the OS? Don't know but if I find out I'll throttle the c&&t

  2. Is there a roll back utility that allows me to keep all my installed tools? NO

HOW TO FIX - w/ EXTENSIONS INTACT

To fix Visual Studio Code (VSCode) Catalina 10.15 upgrades to macOS 11.0

Download v1.97 available Here:

https://code.visualstudio.com/download# (says 10.15+ but it's **incompatible**)

https://visual-studio-code.en.uptodown.com/mac/versions (1.97.1 - works)

I renamed Visual Studio Code.app to Visual Studio Code osx11.0.app (DID NOT DELETE IT)

Unzipped the download & dragged it over into the Applications folder.

Ran it. ALL EXTENSION IN TACT - TFFT!!

Turn off AUTOF***DATE:

Code > Preferences > Setting > search "update mode" > set to none > restart VSCode

Afte a small heart attack and a minor meltdown . . back up and running : )

For future REF: Theres a Setting Synch Facility that will synch to GitHub will update when worked it out.
