The best I could do was read through Mapbox's examples of offline map management and notice their use of the term "size" to reference bytes. That was enough for me to get enough certainty to report to the user the memory usage of their map from the "completedResourceSize" field's value.

Here is one of their guides that uses size to refer to the disk size of a map in bytes
