None of these answers worked for me on MacOS 10.14 Mojave.

Someone answered to clear ~/.bash_history.

I instead edited ~/.bash_history to remove the lines I didn't want anymore, saved the file, and restarted the terminal.

This worked.

Intuitive, direct, simple, and fast.
