It seems that Apple does not support Mifare Classic.

However the only information about this online is:

If you look at the Apple Core NFC NFCMiFareTag documentation https://developer.apple.com/documentation/corenfc/nfcmifaretag, Mifare Classic is not included in the list:

• MIFARE

• MIFARE DESFire

• MIFARE Ultralight

• MiFARE Plus
