If you face this issue, you can solve this by using either JQUERY or Javascript

JQUERY:

$(".input-value").val("")

Javascript:

document.getElementById("input-value").value = ""

This will clear all the spaces from textarea and it wont start at the middle. Cursor will be at top left.

Check if you deleted that field directly of Model instance. The principle is, that when you pass an object to a function, it is the same object and not a copy of it, so the deletion of an attribute by, for example, del vars(object)[field] would change the original object. Instead use copy.deepcopy(object) before changing it.

I think the issue is Livewire State Changes State updates in Livewire, such as mountedActions or mountedTableActions, are reflected in the modal's visibility due to the Livewire data bindings.When updateing the paginator your updating a propraty called $tableRecordsPerPage in trait CanPaginateRecords. `const image = await ImagePicker.launchImageLibraryAsync({ base64: true }); const base64Image = image.base64;

// Save to MongoDB const imageDocument = { image: base64Image }; await db.collection('images').insertOne(imageDocument);`

I know this is stupid, but I traced the issue down to this Chrome extension I had installed years ago: https://chromewebstore.google.com/detail/manage-web-workers/mcojhlgdkpgablplpcfgledhplllmnih?pli=1

I guess a recent Chrome update prompted my browser to re-install that extension after years of having it disabled, and this suddenly broke my app overnight.

You can easily just run the app in incognito to see if that is messing with the web-worker loading. This seemed like such a stupid reason, but in retrospect it makes sense why, despite me doing "all the right things", my issue persisted.

In the offchance someone runs into the same exact issue I had, I figured I'd just document that it could be an issue with installed extensions.

This is actually typical issue where users and technicians are separated. Tons of users think, they know it all, but really don't know anything. No offense, let me explain.

While users often think, they see letters and number and colors on the screen and that is what the device handles as well, the truth is, these are electronic devices that don't know letters and numbers and colors and they only know power and no power. Meaning, there is no color in storage. Which is what a file is. A file represents data on the hard drive. Which still is being stored in some representation of power and no power, not letters, numbers and colors.

This means, that the data is being interpreted in such a way, that it is being DISPLAYED in color on your monitor, but it is not actually color in storage. There is some code that tells the device, that certain parts are not text to output, but formatting. Also meaning, that displaying data in color depends on an INTERPRETER, aka the application that makes use of the data, that distinguishes between formatting and text in the data! It also means, that interpretations can be different from interpreter to interpreter.

That said, you mention a specific example FbBlack. To me, this immediately reminds me about codes that are being used to display colored text in LINUX SHELLS like bash or fish.

What that means is, you can actually write this into pretty much ANY file, even text file. But there is a difference between opening it in a text editor or in, say, the web browser. If you open it with a text editor, the text editor doesn't handle color and will interpret everything in the file as output text and thus will show the formatting instructions as output text as well. But in case you read the text from the file with your programming language, in this case JavaScript, and output the text with the code in a shell like bash, bash or fish will interpret the code as instruction instead of output text and instead of showing the code as text, display the following code in color.

This is the same for ALL formats actually and Quentin failed to explain this properly. The difference between color and no color is actually not text file vs. HTML file or RTF. You can write text in HTML files all day and it won't display in color, just because the file name ends in .html. The difference is actually the viewer you use and more specifically, how it interprets the data. Because if you open HTML in a text editor, you will see the HTML tags as plain text and if you open the HTML file in a browser, they will be interpreted as tags, thus formatting, rather than plain output text.

Frankly, the extension helps WINDOWS (not Linux for example) to determine which application to open it with to make sure it is being interpreted correctly. The truth is, the extension does not force you to actually put the correct data and format into the file. Therefore, you don't actually have to use RTF or HTML. Even less so, if you want to output the text in the console. But it would be appropriate to use the fitting file extension for the instructions you used in the file.

(You should take your own advice, Quentin! Combined glyphs? Wrong interpretation? Talking around the topic for nothing...)

.inst Allocate a block of memory in the code, and specify the opcode. In A32 code, this is a four-byte block. In T32 code, this can be a two-byte or four-byte block. .inst.n allocates a two-byte block and .inst.w allocates a four-byte block.

It looks like you need to pass this data to the .render() call and modify your HTML file to have value attributes in those <input> tags. They would need to render data passed into the template rendering engine through that render() call, accessing them by their context names. Do you have that on GitHub or somewhere? There's code in other modules that might give you some clue.

Manual protobuf serialization over TCP? Totally fine. People overcomplicate this stuff.

Basically, gRPC is like bringing a tank to a go-kart race. If you just need to move some bytes fast, just do that. Serialize your protobuf, send the bytes, done.

# Dead simple
sock.send(your_message.SerializeToString())

That's it. No rocket science. You'll probably get like 30% better performance by skipping all the gRPC overhead. HTTP/2, service discovery, all that jazz - great for big distributed systems, total overkill if you're just moving data between two points. Just make sure you handle your socket connection and maybe add a little length prefix so you know exactly how many bytes to read. But seriously, it's not complicated. Want me to show you a quick example of how to do it right?

Quick Code Example

import socket
from google.protobuf import your_message_pb2

def send_protobuf(sock, message):
    data = message.SerializeToString()
    sock.sendall(len(data).to_bytes(4, 'big') + data)

def receive_protobuf(sock, message_class):
    length = int.from_bytes(sock.recv(4), 'big')
    data = sock.recv(length)

    message = message_class()
    message.ParseFromString(data)
    return message

Commenting to follow. I have a different issue but this is closely related. I need to update snapshot properties after table is written due to work flows. Pyspark doesn’t seem to have a way I’ve only seen Java used

    import org.apache.iceberg.*;
    import org.apache.iceberg.nessie.NessieCatalog;
import org.apache.iceberg.catalog.TableIdentifier;
import io.kontainers.iceberg.nessie.NessieConfig;

public class ModifySnapshotExample {
    public static void main(String[] args) {
        // Connect to the Nessie catalog
        String nessieUrl = "http://your-nessie-server:19120";
        String catalogName = "nessie";
        String database = "your_database";
        String tableName = "your_table";

        NessieConfig config = new NessieConfig();
        config.setNessieUri(nessieUrl);

        // Instantiate the Nessie catalog
        NessieCatalog catalog = new NessieCatalog();
        catalog.configure(config);

        // Load the Iceberg table from the Nessie catalog
        Table table = catalog.loadTable(TableIdentifier.of(database, tableName));

        // Retrieve the current snapshot
        Snapshot currentSnapshot = table.currentSnapshot();
        if (currentSnapshot != null) {
            System.out.println("Current Snapshot ID: " + currentSnapshot.snapshotId());

            // Create a map of new properties to add to the snapshot
            Map<String, String> newProperties = new HashMap<>();
            newProperties.put("snapshot.custom.property", "new_value");

            // Apply the new properties to the snapshot
            // You could use the commit API or table metadata API
            table.updateProperties()
                 .set("snapshot.custom.property", "new_value")
                 .commit();

            System.out.println("Snapshot properties updated.");
        } else {

I frequently download oscilloscope curve data using pyvisa. Twice I did run into trouble:

  1. For downloading the curve the oscilloscope must be in the stop state (thats why I always use single shot to aquire the data). In the run state downloading curve data always fails.
  2. Damaged USB port in the oscilloscope. Using the same device over a network cable did function without any issues.

So make shure the oscilloscope is not acquiring new data while doing the download and try using a network cable instead of the USB-Port.

The problem is Paint()

Using Paint to create can be resource-intensive for a few reasons:

1. Pixel-level rendering: When you use Paint, Flutter has to manage rendering at the pixel level.

2. Double drawing: Using Paint effectively requires drawing twice: once for the stroke and once for the fill. This increases the number of rendering operations and therefore the load on the CPU.

3. Complex operations: Paint can involve complex mathematical operations for precise alignment and feathering, especially when the stroke is wider and requires more precise drawing of each character.

4. Caching issues: Widgets that use Paint can be more difficult to cache, as each frame may require a new draw, especially if the text changes or animates.

5. Hardware limitations: On weaker devices with less graphics capabilities, using Paint for complex rendering can slow down the performance of the entire system.

First of all, thanks to @Iroha for the huge help. The thing was that there were compatibility and support problems when using non-tidy functions with other tidy-functions, which led me to be quite confused (ik, rookie mistake :p).

Hence, to deal with the problem. you have to call the function with do.call() and recall the columns with pick(). The code fixed would be the following:

# Example df

ind <- c("A","B","C")
y <- c(2008,2012,2016,2020)
indiv <- rep(ind, times=4)
year <- rep(y, times=3)

a <- runif(n=12, min=0, max=100)
b <- runif(n=12, min=0, max=100)
c <- runif(n=12, min=0, max=100)
d <- runif(n=12, min=0, max=100)
e <- runif(n=12, min=0, max=100)
f <- runif(n=12, min=0, max=100)
g <- runif(n=12, min=0, max=100)

df_data <- data.frame(indiv,year,a,b,c,d,e,f,g)

# Code for max min and new range

newdf <- df_data %>%
  mutate(Oldmax = do.call(pmax,c(pick(a:g),na.rm=TRUE)),
         Oldmin = do.call(pmin,c(pick(a:g),na.rm=TRUE)),
         Newmax = do.call(pmax,c(pick(e:g),na.rm=TRUE)),
         Newmin = do.call(pmin,c(pick(e:g),na.rm=TRUE)),
         Oldrange = Oldmax-Oldmin,
         Newrange = Newmax-Newmin) %>%
  mutate(across(e:g,
                (((~ .x - Oldmin) * Newrange) / Oldrange) + Newmin,
                .names = "{.col}_bal")
         )

No need to apply it in the across one though, it is supported. Check info regarding do.call() function if you do not know how it works, it can be super useful even if you do not recall it all the time (like what happened in my case).

Hope anyone dealing with this kind of problems can find it useful :)

For me, the problem was caused by failing to return a value from an addEventListener callback function. Return true if the event has been handled, false if not. (I'm not sure if event.stopPropagation should be called if the event is not handled.)

I get a rate of 48-51k on avg consistently. Either:

Remove back pressure (no QOS/prefetch), increase size of consumer internal queue.

You run the risk of losing messages here if you don’t have enough RAM, or the internal Queue gets filled.

Given enough RAM, you would need over 2.1 billion messages to fill up an internal queue with the max cap (which is Int.maxValue).

For guaranteed reliability regardless of hardware/system resources, use a high prefetch count and execute only async code in the consumers. Any blocking code should be handed off to separate thread. I achieve 20-25k msg per sec consistently this way.

My experiments were on a single 16gb ram machine with 145 million messages stored in the RabbitMQ queue for benchmark purposes.

Can VT improve performance?

Yes and no, of course.

VTs share a native thread, so they can't run instructions in parallel beyond the OS capability. But as you aim to have them yield when waiting, it should have helped, IF they were not hooked on the same 8 native threads. This needs to be asserted.

(I'll presume you don't have a limit of 8 connections to the DB. It's usually more like 100. You can assert that by temporarily adding a pause to your task after connecting. You can also use a 'sleep(delay)' in mysql, to make statements last longer to prove your tasks can make parallel statements, but you've got a nasty 10 seconds hard statement already. Perhaps there is a difference in the eye of mysqld, but with a 60 seconds pause, you'll have time to show processlist by hand now).

My hypothesis is that there is a thread pool of 1 thread per core underneath this. If you use Thread.currentThread() you won't get anywhere.

If you are on linux, you can write a small java method to read the "/proc/thread-self/status" on each task to get some outsight from the OS (the 'Pid' row in particular). See http://man.he.net/man5/proc . This would prove on which distinct native OS threads your VTs are running.

I don't know for Windoze.

Good luck. Lettuce-snow.

Thank you for your suggestion, Mohammadreza Khahani

So here is a solution i have been suggested so far, remove the fragment container view from bottom sheet dialog xml and add it into activity and let the activity handle the fragment container state instead the dialog.

So basically i visibility gone or remove the fragment container at the onCreate method then add the fragment container view into the add address dialog. This certainly not a good solve for this problem but a nice quick work around.

Here is my MainActivity.kt

   class MainActivity : AppCompatActivity() {
    private lateinit var binding: ActivityMainBinding
    private lateinit var fab: FloatingActionButton
    private lateinit var rcv: RecyclerView
    private val viewModel: AddressViewModel by viewModels()
    private lateinit var repo: AddressRepo
    private lateinit var adapter: HouseAdapter
    // create a global variable container the container view
    private lateinit var fragmentContainerView: FragmentContainerView
    private val TAG: String = "Activity Main log"

    override fun onCreate(savedInstanceState: Bundle?) {
        super.onCreate(savedInstanceState)
        enableEdgeToEdge()

        binding = ActivityMainBinding.inflate(layoutInflater)
        val view = binding.root
        setContentView(view)
        ViewCompat.setOnApplyWindowInsetsListener(findViewById(R.id.main)) { v, insets ->
            val systemBars = insets.getInsets(WindowInsetsCompat.Type.systemBars())
            v.setPadding(systemBars.left, systemBars.top, systemBars.right, systemBars.bottom)
            insets
        }

        fab = binding.homeFab
        rcv = binding.homeRcv

    // bind and remove the view in onCreate
        fragmentContainerView = binding.homeFragmentContainerView
        (fragmentContainerView.parent as ViewGroup).removeView(fragmentContainerView)

        val db = DatabaseInstance.getDatabase(this@MainActivity)
        repo = AddressRepo(db.addressDao())

        adapter = HouseAdapter(emptyList())
        rcv.layoutManager = GridLayoutManager(this, 2, GridLayoutManager.VERTICAL, false)
        val spacingInPixels = resources.getDimensionPixelSize(R.dimen.item_spacing)
        rcv.addItemDecoration(ItemDecoration(2, spacingInPixels, true))
        rcv.adapter = adapter

        // Load data asynchronously and update the adapter
        lifecycleScope.launch(Dispatchers.IO) {
            val addresses = repo.getAllHouse()
            Log.d(TAG, "onCreate: House Data = " + addresses.toString())
            launch(Dispatchers.Main) {
                adapter.updateData(addresses)
            }
        }

        viewModel.address.observe(this) {address ->
            Log.d(TAG, "onCreate: INPUT = $address")
        }

        fab.setOnClickListener {
            showBottomSheet()
        }
    }

    private fun showBottomSheet() {
        val bottomSheetDialog = BottomSheetDialog(this)

        val bottomSheetView = LayoutInflater.from(this)
            .inflate(R.layout.bottomsheet_add_address, null)

    // add container into bottom sheet dialog if it parent is null
        if (fragmentContainerView.parent != null) {
            (fragmentContainerView.parent as ViewGroup).removeView(fragmentContainerView)
        }
        fragmentContainerView.visibility = View.VISIBLE
        val bottomSheetLinearLayout = bottomSheetView.findViewById<LinearLayout>(R.id.bottom_sheet_placeholder_container)

I tried the proposed answer but it didn't work for me as I'm using nextjs and firebase. I had to modify the package.json with a new script

"deploy-hosting-preprod": "sed -i '.bak' 's/NEXT_PUBLIC_ENVIRONMENT=.*/NEXT_PUBLIC_ENVIRONMENT=live/' .env; export NEXT_PUBLIC_ENVIRONMENT=live; firebase deploy --only hosting:preprod"

Also in my firebase json instead of using predeploy I use postdeploy, to return the .env file to normal as:

{
  "hosting": [
    ...
    {
      "target": "preprod",
      "source": ".",
      "ignore": ["firebase.json", "**/.*", "**/node_modules/**"],
      "postdeploy": ["npm run revert-env"]
    }
  ],
  ...

Remove the width: 26vw; of the img. The img is this width, but the image inside is contained inside to avoid deformation or crop.
If you set both height and width you can get things like this, if you only set one, the other will adapt to avoid deformation or crop.

  • Low length (0.5):
  • Has code block (-0.5):
